Digitalizing European Industry, Stakeholder Forum 2018

The Stakeholder Forum is a free public event organized annually by the European Commission and a Member State in the context of the Digitizing European Industry (DEI) initiative.

This last edition took place on March 27 and 28, 2018 and is a key part of the European Platform of National Initiatives for the digitalization industry, which offers a coordination framework to bring together the different actors involved in the value chain digital, such as the European Commission, Member States, national initiatives, industry representatives, SMEs, academia and digital innovation centers to share experiences, exchange best practices and discuss implementation of the DEI initiative. By attending this event, they had the opportunity to influence and contribute to the development of the European digitalization policy and to know all the latest developments.

After a successful first Stakeholder Forum in 2017 organized jointly with the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), the second Stakeholder Forum was co-organized with the French Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Technologies. The event will take place within the 4-day Global Industrie 2018 fair.

The stakeholder forum was opened on the afternoon of March 27 with a speech by Delphine Gény-Stephann, French Secretary of State for Economy and Finance, and a video message from Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Economy and Digital Society. Next, high-level policy presentations and discussions in a plenary session followed.

March 28 was developed through parallel workshops dedicated to digital innovation centers, public-private partnerships, financing instruments for digitalization, digital skills and deployment of digital industrial platforms.

An exhibition area also offered attendees the chance to obtain first-hand information on national initiatives in the digitization industry, exchange best practices, listen to short presentations in the speakers' corner and show examples of success in the use of digital technologies .

The conference focused specifically on SMEs and concluded with a plenary session.
