Consultation on the implementation of EuroHPC

The European Commission launched a consultation to gather the stakeholders’ point of view on the key areas, elements and priorities of a future EU-wide initiative on High Performance Computing (HPC), the EuroHPC. EuroHPC is a new legal and financial instrument which objective is to support:

  1. the development (through research, innovation and other supporting activities) of an integrated HPC and Big Data ecosystem in Europe in terms of hardware, software, applications, skills, services and interconnections
  2. the procurement, deployment and operation of a leading edge HPC and data infrastructure in Europe that will be available across the EU for scientific communities as well as public and private partners, no matter where supercomputers are located.

EuroHPC will permit the combination of different funding sources and will allow an efficient coordination of the activities of the EU and Member States in HPC.

The European Commission intends to set up this new instrument in 2018 and put it in place by 2019 at the latest. The deadline to answer the survey is next 5th of September 2017 in the following link:
